General Information
On December 28, 2007, AOL
announced that Netscape would be officially abandoned, with no further development
or support, as of February 01, 2008. As of version 8.x, Netscape already no longer
included an email client, leaving Netscape email
users without needed security fixes (Netscape Messenger v9 never made it out of "alpha" testing).
As such, we recommend the use of Thunderbird
(or SeaMonkey) instead.
WARNING: Due to a number of security
alerts and the lack of any support, we DO NOT RECOMMEND use of Netscape
for any purpose, including email or web browsing.
